This classic textured pizza sauce is perfect to make and freeze, You will use it for many different recipes!

Ingredients

  • 1 28-oz can San Marzano whole peeled
  • tomatoes
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely grated
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp kosher salt or 1 tsp sea salt
  • ½ tsp dried oregano

Instructions

    Strain the tomatoes and reserve the juice. In a ricer, blender or food processor, puree the tomatoes until they form a coarse puree. Place the pureed tomatoes in a measuring cup and add enough of the reserved juice from the can to make up 2 cups (you may not need any of the juice). Discard the remaining juice.

    Stir in the garlic, olive oil, salt and oregano.

    Cover and let chill for at least 3 hours. You can store in the refrigerator for 3 days. Makes about 2 cups. Do Ahead: Sauce can be made in advance. It can be refrigerated for 3 days or frozen for 3 months.
